Conditions Treated

Allergic rhinitis
Also known as Seasonal Allergies. Symptoms: Sneezing. Itchy, runny or blocked nose. itchy, red and watery eyes. cough.

Candidal stomatitis
Also known as Oral Thrush. Symptoms: White patches (plaques) in the mouth that can often be wiped off, leaving behind red areas that may bleed slightly.

Conjunctivitis
Also known as Pink Eye. Symptoms: Redness, Itching or burning sensation in the eye or eyes, excessive tearing and discharge, which may be clear or colored (yellow, green, or white), swollen eyelids, crusting of the eyelids or lashes, especially in the morning.

Dermatitis
Also known as Eczema. Symptoms: Dry, flaky, itchy skin. Rashes on inflamed skin that varies in color. Blisters, perhaps with oozing and crusting. Bumps in hair follicles.

Dysmenorrhea
Also known as Period Cramps. Symptoms: Cramping or pain in the lower abdomen, low back pain, pain spreading down the legs, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, weakness, fainting, or headaches.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
Also known as Acid Reflux. A burning sensation in your chest (heartburn), usually after eating, which might be worse at night or while lying down. Upper abdominal or chest pain.

Hemorrhoids
Itching, irritation, pain or discomfort around rectum. Swelling around the anus.Rectal bleeding.

Herpes labialis
Also known as Cold Sores. Symptoms: Tingling, itching, or burning sensation around the lips or mouth area, Swollen and red gums, sore throat, fever, and swollen lymph nodes, small blisters thay may burst, leaving a shallow ulcer that oozes fluid and then forms a crust.

Impetigo
Highly contagious bacterial or rarely viral infection, commonly occurs in children. Symptoms: Red, itchy blisters or sores on the face, neck, hands, and diaper area that break open and leak a clear fluid or pus for a few days.

Insect bites and urticaria
Also known as Hives. Itchy red bumps on the skin due to an insect bite and allergic reaction.

Musculoskeletal sprains and strains
Also known as Sports Injury. Symptoms: Pain or tenderness, redness or bruising, limited motion, muscle spasms, swelling, muscle weakness.

Urinary Tract Infections (uncomplicated)
Also known as UTI or Bladder Infection. Symptoms: Frequent and urgent need to urinate, pain or burning during urination, cloudy or strong-smelling urine, lower abdominal pain or pressure, blood in urine etc.

Acne
Acne is a common skin condition. Characterized by the formation of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and sometimes deeper cysts or nodules on the skin. It occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria, leading to inflammation.

Canker Sores
Canker sores, also known as aphthous ulcers, are small, shallow, painful sores that can form inside the mouth, on the tongue, gums, or inner cheeks. These sores are usually round or oval with a white or yellowish center and a red border and are not contagious.

Diaper Dermatitis
Diaper dermatitis, commonly known as diaper rash, is a skin irritation that occurs in infants and toddlers in the area covered by diapers. It is characterized by redness, inflammation, and discomfort, often caused by prolonged exposure to wetness, friction, or sensitivity to certain diaper materials or products.

Yeast Infection (Vulvovaginal)
Vulvovaginal yeast infection is a common fungal infection caused by an overgrowth of Candida, a type of yeast, in the vagina. It leads to symptoms such as itching, burning, and abnormal discharge, often triggered by factors like antibiotics, hormonal changes, or a weakened immune system.

Nausea & Vomiting of Pregnancy
Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy, commonly known as morning sickness, is a condition experienced by many pregnant women, typically occurring during the first trimester. It is characterized by feelings of nausea, often accompanied by vomiting, and is believed to be related to hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy.

Pinworms & Threadworms
Pinworms, also known as threadworms, are small parasitic worms that infect the intestines, primarily in children. They cause itching around the anal area and are usually transmitted through ingestion of contaminated food, water, or surfaces, leading to a common intestinal parasitic infection.

Assessment
Our pharmacist will do an assessment of your symptoms to verify the severity of your condition.

Treatment
Based on the assessment, our pharmacist will either prescribe the medication, suggest non-pharmaceutical treatment or make a referral to your MD or to the ER.

Monitoring
Our pharmacist will monitor your progress by follow-up call and adjust the treatment plan if necessary.

Referral
If your condition worsens or does not improve, our pharmacist may refer you to a physician for further evaluation and treatment.

No, you do not need to see a doctor first. Our pharmacists are authorized to assess and treat minor ailments. Upon assessment if the pharmacist believes you need another assessment by a doctor or your condition is severe, you may be referred to your doctor or to the emergency department.
No, assessment is covered by OHIP if you have a valid Ontario Health Card. If you do not have a health card please call us for more information. If the assessment results in a prescription, medications may not be covered.
This will depend on your specific health insurance plan. Please check with your insurance provider for more information on coverage for medications prescribed under the Minor Ailments Prescribing program.
